I’ll never forget the first time I saw Ron Dahline’s artwork. It definitely demands one’s attention! Needless to say, I found the work to be rather extreme and that was just what I was looking for. Turning Leaf Wood Art did not have a potter yet. I had been waiting to find something totally unique and I had just found it! However, I had to court him for several months to bring him in. Now, I have a difficult time keeping enough of his pieces on hand for his growing fan club.

Ron Dahline attended Bemidji State University from 1985 through 1991 where he acquired enough credits for 6 Majors in Art. It was there that Ron first took a class in clay. Since that time Ron has worked primarily with Art Co- Ops in Minnesota, Arizona, and Florida.

Please take a look at Ron’s infamous Mugs, Jugs, and Creatures while I tell you where he gets his inspiration from.  Ron’s unique faces have been influenced by many odd and crazy things, among which are: Mad Magazine, National Lampoon, and many Political Cartoons.

Ron says “My creatures are like actors on a stage. With their expressions they can publicly do so many things that I can’t. Sometimes while working on them it’s like watching a Polaroid photograph develop before my very eyes. At other times it is like painting a landscape and I am fascinated by the rhythm as the wrinkles and crinkles are likened to mountains and streams. I believe that truly great art should make one re-evaluate ones own reality, whether that is good or bad.”

The mugs and jugs are completely lead free, non toxic, and dishwasher safe. So, if you have the nerve, go ahead and have your morning coffee in one of these extremely unique pieces of art. Enjoy your art!
