Robin Lewis-Wild, a resident of Mineral Bluff, GA (located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains) grew up in Deland, Florida. She received private study from early childhood. Robin graduated from Stetson University with a BA in art,  studied at Tyler School of Art and at Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale where she had the privilege of working with Leonardo De Vinchenzo in pastels and oils. She then moved to Atlanta to pursue a 10 year career in advertising as artist, photographer, and art director.

With fond memories of summer vacations spent in the mountains, she has always been drawn to North Georgia. In 1981 Robin left a lucrative job to move to the mountains, determined to make her own way with her artwork. Robin spent the next twenty years creating traditional and contemporary lace works of art. Robin has taught and lectured throughout the U.S. and Canada. Robin has published a book of lace patterns which is now in its fourth edition, selling internationally.

Best known for her architectural commission for TVA "Changing Seasons"—3 lace panels measuring 8' x 32' in a six-story atrium space in Chattanooga, and her book of lace designs, she was also a recipient of an NEA grant from the GA Council for the Arts and a proprietor of an import business for lace supplies.

Her memberships include Southern Highland Craft Guild in Asheville, NC; Piedmont Craftsmen in Winston-Salem, NC and honorary membership in IOLI (International Lacers, Inc.) Articles on Robin and her work have appeared in numerous magazines including Threads, American Crafts, Shuttle, Spindle and Dye pot, Lace Craft Quarterly, and IOLI publications. Her work "Enchanted Garden" was used for the cover of “From Eulogy to Joy.”

After the loss of her husband in 1995, and an extensive bout with cancer, she changed her focus from minute, monochromatic lace work, to that of more tangible and colorful work. Robin has returned to painting. Her subject matter is primarily her impressions of the natural beauty of this area. She paints plein air or uses photos and sketches with color references or simply from her imagination. Robin continues to create fine sensual pine needle baskets using traditional  and contemporary forms. Although her work has been found in various shops and galleries throughout the southeast, Turning Leaf Wood Art - A Fine Art Gallery is delighted to be the sole representative of Robins' work in the Blue Ridge Georgia area.

Our current collection includes original oils, artist enhanced giclees and woven pine needle baskets.
