Julie Bender is a degreed and accomplished fine artist enthralled with the art of wood burning. "Pyrography fills all my senses and deepest artistic passions. I delight in the perfect imperfections of heat meeting wood and embrace the intrinsic challenge that offers. Meticulous care is taken with each piece in order to capture the essence and true spirit of each subject.

Stunning photographs and beautiful wood are the foundation and inspiration for my pyrography. A stirring visual image combined with just the right wood represents an opportunity for a most unique work of art. I am inspired by the fusion of heat with wood and how they yield remarkable results. Tiny strokes of sepia tones on swirling grain and birds-eye slowly darken to become an integral and decorative part of each piece. I strive to embody my passion for pyrography by portraying my subjects authentically, precisely, and realistically through finely tuned detail. My sincerest wish is to move and inspire others through my art.

Welcome to my one-of-a-kind hand created pyrographic art. Pyrography, the art of burning or scorching on a natural surface, such as wood or leather, is one of the oldest art forms dating back to cave drawings by those fascinated by the mysterious beauty and power of fire. To this day, pyrography continues to captivate our imagination as its natural canvas blends impressively with wildlife, portraiture, and landscape to create rich impressions of art imitating life.
