A native of middle Tennessee, Doug received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Berea College, Berea, Kentucky, in 1962. He worked in agriculture for several years, then in 1966, entered into the field of textiles. After working in this industry for 28 years in management, Doug retired in 1993, to pursue his love of woodturning.
Doug has been turning for 17 years. He participates in many juried art and craft shows throughout the southeast and is represented in several galleries in Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. He is frequently asked to do demonstrations for woodturner meetings.
Doug is the president of the Brasstown Turning Guild, member of several regional clubs, and a member of the American Association of Woodturners. He was a demonstrator at the national woodturners symposium in Charlotte, NC, 2000, and St. Paul, MN, 2001.
