Phil will be our guest here this Saturday, October 27th, 2007 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Please come in and meet Phil and enjoy light refreshments.
Phil Colson has been working with wood for most of his life. His father, who was a master craftsman, exposed him to woodworking at an early age. It was here that he developed his love of wood. As a young man Phil was a dancer, stained glass designer and horticulturist. He brings all three of these disciplines to his turnings; a sense of balance, design, and knowledge of wood. Phil selects pieces of wood for their inner beauty and unique grain patterns.
"Once the wood is mounted on the lathe, the adventure begins. I seldom know what the piece will be before I start. As the wood rounds, the grain patterns emerge and the form suggests itself to me. I try to merge with the wood in body, mind, and spirit. My hands form, my mind is inspired and my spirit soars."
"I hope that you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating it!"
